THE MAY APPEAL
This past week, we sent reminders out to fami-lies who have not yet donated to the annual may Ap-peal. As you know, the May Appeal is the only major capital improvement appeal, and without your sup-port, it will be impossible to maintain our beautiful buildings and grounds.
Our need is substantial, as we continue to do repairs to our buildings, including Phase two & three of the school exterior masonry repairs, masonry repairs to stone on the Lamarck side of the Church, and ongoing painting and repairs to all buildings. We will be replacing an outdated Fire Alarm system in the School building, continue maintenance on the heating system, and will hopefully implement recommendations from a recent Energy Audit to reduce the cost of our utilities.
As of
Tuesday, June 30, our May Appeal pledges equal $74,303 from 591 of our 2,000 families. Please consider donating whatever you can to this im-portant appeal.|

THE ST. VINCENT de PAUL DINING ROOM
Since the SVDP Dining Room operates all year, we are ask-ing parishioners to be aware that we collect food in the Upper Church vestibule every week. With the current eco-nomic challenges our country and our area faces, demand for food pantry / dining room services is increasing. There-fore we are turning to our parishioners to assist in support-ing this growing need. We are asking for an increased awareness and participation in food donations to our food baskets, through the year. 5

JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN
Next
weekend, there will be a second collection taken for the Archdiocese of
Juba in South Sudan.
Fr. Philip Pitya, the US Mission Representative for his Diocese, has sent us the following appeal: “As you may know, the genocidal Islamic Jibad (holy war) in the Sudan continues unabated. In Darfur and Kassala Province, en-tire communities are being erased form the face of the earth. While in South Sudan, Abiyei, the Nuba Mountains and southern Blue Nile an equally deadly gun and bomb fire continues to smolder amid the wreckages of villages and towns. In fact, the northern Sudanese Islamists con-tinue to wage their “Holy War,” Jihad against us “Infidels” despite the 2005 Peace Agreement. The total breakdown of community life and law and order, the unspeakable car-nage and tremendous loss of life and property, and the enormous human suffering resulting from the endless warfare are beyond description. The whole community is traumatized, and needs healing, particularly spiritual.
The church remains the only voice of reason and hope for our desperate people, Christian and Moslems alike. Our clergy, religious, catechists and lay leaders are struggling against all odds to keep and enkindle the flames of our Christian faith burning brightly in our country. I am therefore appealing to you our brothers and sisters in faith to continue to support us to witness to Christ’s living gospel of love and mercy among our traumatized people. Thank you very much for your kindness.

JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN
Today, there will be a second collection taken for the Archdiocese of Juba in South Sudan.
Fr. Philip Pitya, the US Mission Repre-sentative for his Diocese, has sent us the following appeal: “As you may know, the genocidal Islamic Jibad (holy war) in the Sudan continues unabated. In Darfur and Kassala Province, entire communities are being erased form the face of the earth. While in South Sudan, Abiyei, the Nuba Mountains and southern Blue Nile an equally deadly gun and bomb fire continues to smolder amid the wreckages of villages and towns. In fact, the northern Sudanese Islamists continue to wage their “Holy War,” Jihad against us “Infidels” despite the 2005 Peace Agreement. The total breakdown of community life and law and order, the unspeakable carnage and tremen-dous loss of life and property, and the enormous human suffering resulting from the endless warfare are beyond description.

The yarn may be dropped off at the Rectory. If you can knit and you’d like to come, the weekly group meets every Wednes-day evening, in the Church Library from 7-9 pm. Ques-tions? Call the Rectory at 839-1430. This ministry makes
