THE PARISH ROSARY CHAIN is made up of a group of parishioners who daily pray a decade
of the rosary for special requested intentions. If you have an intention for the Rosary
Chain, or you would like to become part of the Rosary Chain Ministry, call Irene Wingerter

FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK IS THE FIRST FRIDAY for the month of June. Masses will be at 6:45
and 8:45 a.m. After the Mass the Rosary and Altar Society will recite the Rosary in the
Church Library. They will then go to The Wehrle for a Dutch-treat breakfast. If you are
going please call Virginia Harder at 839-0239 before noon on Thursday, June 5th. All women
of the parish are welcome.
MASS FOR GRADUATES OF THE PARISH will be celebrated next Sunday June 8th, at the 11:00
a.m. Mass. This mass is in thanksgiving and celebration for the accomplishments of those
graduating from area kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools, and college. All
are invited to come. After the Mass there will be a Reception in the Chapel Meeting Room.
This reception will also welcome those who are new to our parish. Please stop in to
congratulate the graduates and to greet our new parishioners.
THE FATHER'S DAY NOVENA is a wonderful way to remember our Father's - living and
deceased. A 9-day Novena of Masses begins on Father's Day, June 15th, until Monday, June
23rd. The Father's Day envelopes were included in your envelope packet, and cards are
available in the Sacristy. Please return your intention envelopes to the Rectory or in the
collection basket.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - REGISTRATION FOR 2008-2009:
To secure a place in the program all students must register by June 20th.
The Registration letters have been mailed. If you have a child who will be in first grade
or are new to the parish, and did not receive this mailing, please contact the office at
839-0946, ext. 306.
If you have a child who will be attending Catholic, public or private high school and will
be in 9th grade in the fall and would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, they
must register in the program.
CTK SCHOOL NEWS

Tuesday & Wednesday, June 3 & 4 - Grade 8 will take the NYS Social Studies Exam
Friday, June 6 - Students will attend the 8:45 a.m. Mass, which is the "Light of the
World" Mass the 1st Graders prepare for the 8th Graders - Noon dismissal
Friday, June 6 - School Talent Show - 7:00 p.m. in the School Gym
SENIOR CITIZENS FROM CTK are invited to join St. Benedict's Senior Citizens Club. They
meet every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the basement lunchroom at St. Benedict's. On June
11th, they will be serving Roast Beef Sandwiches for Father's Day.
FAMILY DAY AT THE BALLPARK
CTK Holy Name Society is sponsoring a "Family Day at the Ballpark" for CTK
parishioners, on Sunday August 3rd at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $6 and the Bisons will be
playing the Syracuse Chiefs at Dunn Tire Park. Everyone is encouraged to attend - mothers,
fathers, family members, little leaguers, friends of baseball - anyone interested in
enjoying an after noon of fun! Make your reservations early. For tickets are information
call Tim Herzog at 998-4503, John Shephard at 839-3313, or John Davis at 839-2187. The
Holy Name Society is inviting the Altar Servers as their guests for this event. There will
be face painting, prizes, a color TV and running of the bases following the game. Plan to
be there for a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
THE SCHOOL TALENT SHOW - The School Talent Show will be held this year on Friday, June
6th at 7:00 pm in the School Gym. Parishioners are invited to come and enjoy the evening.

ONE-WAY DRIVEWAYS - In the spirit of safety, please observe the one-way driveway
designations for the parking lot between the Church and the School. Enter the parking lot
using the driveway on Main Street, and Exit the parking lot using the driveway onto
Lamarck Drive. Everyone's cooperation will help make our complex safer.

Youth Group Meeting - Sunday, June 1st - 10:30-11:30 .m. in the Church Library. All are
invited.
CTK Youth Council is looking for interested teens in grades 9-12 as of September to serve
on the 2008-2009 Youth Council. This is the teen leadership board for our parish teen
community. Members meet monthly to plan and implement events and activities aimed at
providing opportunities to grow in the Catholic Faith, serve those in need, and to come
together socially, strengthening old friendships and making new ones. If interested call

Graduation Mass Sunday June 8th at 11:00 am, is in thanksgiving and celebration for the
accomplishments of those graduating from area kindergarten, elementary, middle, high
schools, and college. All are invited to attend. A reception will follow.
Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) - June 26- July 2 at St. Columban Center, Derby. CLI
is a weeklong leadership program for teens who will be in their sophomore year or older by
September. It is an intensive 6-day leadership experience that includes learning sessions,
discussion groups, liturgy, daily prayer, and recreation. This program is run by the
Diocesan Youth Dept. The fee is $280, all-inclusive.
CRIB DRIVE UPDATE - To date, CTK has delivered 31 cribs and 20 mattresses to Harvest
House. We are still purchasing cribs and expect our total to exceed 50 cribs. Thank you to
all the generous parishioners whose monetary donations and donations of cribs, mattresses
made this possible!
WEEKEND MASS SCHEDULE
After consultation with the Parish Council and Trustees, it has been decided to make a
change in our Sunday Mass schedule. The decision to combine the 9:30 and 11:00 is based on
low attendance and in accord with Diocesan policy. As of Sunday, July 6th Masses will be
celebrated at 8:00 am and 10:00 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. The Saturday Vigil Mass will continue
to be celebrated at 4:30 pm.
SUMMER DAILY MASS SCHEDULE
Also, for the summer months, from Monday, June 30th through Friday, August 29th, the daily
morning Mass, will be at 8:00 a.m.
AREA MORNING MASSES: 7:00 a.m. Monday-Friday - St. Benedict's; and 7:30 a.m. Monday,
Tuesday & Wednesday - Infant of Prague
CATHOLIC CHARITIES - The 2008 Donation Year Ends on June 30th. As of Tuesday, May 27th,
our parish has collected $245,923 from 933 of our 2,200 families - that's a 42%
participation from our parish. If you have received an additional Catholic Charities Card
and a donation request please look into your heart and give a donation - no donation is
too small - just give what you are able. The fiscal year for Catholic Charities ends on
June 30, so please make your donation or pledge before that date.
A HEALING MASS with the Queen of Peace Healing Ministry will be at St. Leo's , 885
Sweethome Rd, on Monday, June 9th. confessions will be heard at 6:30 pm, the Rosary
recited at 7:00 pm, Mass at 7:30 pm, followed by prayers for healing with laying on of
hands.
SISTER'S HOSPITAL is looking for Eucharist Ministers to complement the work of the
Spiritual Care staff by visiting and bringing Holy Communion to patients who wish to
receive the sacrament while in the hospital. If you are interested in volunteering please
call Lynn Overbeck, the Director of Volunteer Services at 862-1106.
AMISH COUNTRY VISIT - Join St. Benedicts on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Amish Country in
Lancaster, PA from August 12-14. See two shows "In the Beginning" (creation) and
"Classic Crooners," sight see, go to Hershey Factory. Cost is $359 - call Val at

4th ANNUAL NICHOLAS A. DUSENBERRY MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT helps raise money used
toward Melanoma Research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Nick Dusenberry, was a
parishioner who died of Melanoma at the age of 24, which is the 6th most common cancer in
the US. The tournament will be held at The Links at Ivy Ridge, 12221 Main Rd., Akron, on
Friday, August 8th. To golf 18 holes, including a steak dinner is $130, Steak dinner only

and the televised Sunday Mass, among other media projects. Catholic communication helps to
provide you with quality Catholic programming and publications as well as current news
updates via the Internet.
PLEASE JOIN US!! Benediction, Prayer and Refreshments
You are cordially invited as members of the family of Christ the King Church to join us
for an evening of Benediction and prayer in thanksgiving for God's great gift of life and
the success of the Crib Drive to benefit needy mothers. Benediction and prayer will be
held in the Upper Church at 7:00 pm on Wed. June 11, followed by refreshments in the
foyer. All are enthusiastically welcome.
DIOCESAN YOUTH BOARD - Congratulations to Alessandra Tarantino, a CTK parishioner, and
a member of CTK Parish Youth Council, who was selected to serve on the Diocesan Youth
Board for 2008-2009. Alessandra will represent the young people of our diocese, and her
gifts and leadership skills will be an integral part of the ministry to the young church.
She will also be attending the Diocesan Christian Leadership Institute this summer. We are
honored to have a representative from our parish teen community selected for membership on
this Diocesan Board. Our thoughts and prayers will be with her as she participates in this
ministry.

THEOLOGY ON TAP: BUFFALO: 2008 SUMMER SESSION! - This Catholic speaker-series will be
held on Tuesday, June 10th, at the Pan American Room (2nd Floor) of the Pearl Street Grill
& Brewery, 76 Pearl St. Buffalo. The speaker, Fr. Larry Richards, pastor of St. Joseph
Church/Bread of Life Community in Erie, PA, will begin at 7:30 pm followed by a question

"FAMILY DAY AT THE BALLPARK" is being sponsored by the Holy Name Society for

¢ CTK Youth Council is looking for interested teens in grades 9-12 as of September to
serve on the 2008-2009 Youth Council. This is the teen leadership board for our parish
teen community. Members meet monthly to plan and implement events and activities aimed at
providing opportunities to grow in the Catholic Faith, serve those in need, and to come

¢ Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) - June 26- July 2 at St. Columban Center, Derby.
CLI is a weeklong leadership program for teens who will be in their sophomore year or
older by September. It is an intensive 6-day leadership experience that includes learning
sessions, discussion groups, liturgy, daily prayer, and recreation. This program is run by
the Diocesan Youth Dept. The fee is $280, all-inclusive.
WEEKEND MASS SCHEDULE
After consultation with the Parish Council and Trustees, it has been decided to make a
change in our Sunday Mass schedule. The decision to combine the 9:30 and 11:00 is based on
low attendance and in accord with Diocesan policy. As of Sunday, July 6th Masses will be
celebrated at 8:00 am and 10:00 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. The Saturday Vigil Mass will continue
to be celebrated at 4:30 pm.

Also, for the summer months, from Monday, June 30th through Friday, August 29th, the daily
morning Mass, will be at 8:00 a.m.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES - The 2008 Donation Year Ends on June 30th. As of Tuesday, June 3rd,
our parish has collected $246,423 from 945 of our 2,200 families - that's a 43%
participation from our parish. If you have received an additional Catholic Charities Card
and a donation request please look into your heart and give a donation - no donation is
too small - just give what you are able. The fiscal year for Catholic Charities ends on
June 30, so please make your donation or pledge before that date.

FAMILY FUN DAY!!!
This annual school/parish picnic will be held next Friday, June 20th, from 6-9 pm, in the

OUR BLESSED MOTHER OF VICTORY MISSION
Next weekend there will be a Second Collection for the annual Mission Appeal, conducted
under the direction of the Diocesan Office of the Propagation of the Faith. Father Arthur
Winikoff will be asking for donations for the Mission of Our Blessed Mother of Victory,
which serves street urchins, orphans and abandoned children of the Philippine Islands.
Please be generous to this urgent appeal for the mission to those "little ones"
of God most in need.

The 2008 Donation Year Ends on June 30th
As of Tuesday, June 17th, our parish has collected $249,448 from 951 of our 2,200
families. If you have not yet given to Catholic Charities, please look into your heart and
give - no donation is too small - just give what you are able. This is the last week to
make a donation or pledge before the end of the 2008 donation year.
YOUTH NEWS
The Teen Youth Group of CTK is an organization in which all high school teen parishioners
are automatically members. Teens are encouraged to participate in any or all events.
Members who feel a strong dedication and commitment to serve should consider a position on
the CTK Youth Council. This committee helps to schedule events that seek to increase
faith, encourage friendship, & promote fun in a welcoming atmosphere. The leadership
council works directly with adult coordinators, volunteers, and parish teens to plan
programs & invite you to become an active part of teen life at CTK Church.

CTK Youth Council is looking for interested teens in grades 9-12 as of September to serve
on the 2008-2009 Youth Council. This is the teen leadership board for our parish teen

4th ANNUAL NICHOLAS A. DUSENBERRY MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT helps raise money used
toward Melanoma Research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Nick Dusenberry, was a
parishioner who died of Melanoma at the age of 24, which is the 6th most common cancer in
the US. The tournament will be held at The Links at Ivy Ridge, 12221 Main Rd., Akron, on

MAY APPEAL 2008
Last week, we sent reminders out to families who have not yet donated to the annual May
Appeal. As you know, our May Appeal is the only major capital improvement appeal and
without your support, it will be impossible to maintain our beautiful buildings and
grounds. Our need is great this year, as we have some major unexpected maintenance
projects that need to be taken care of. As of Tuesday, June 17th, our May Appeal pledges
equal $68,993 from 603 of our 2200 families.

PERMANENT MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE
CHANGE EFFECTIVE NEXT WEEKEND, SUNDAY, JULY 6th
As of next weekend, masses will be celebrated at:
Saturday: 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m.
12:15 p.m.
This decision was reached after consultation with the Parish Council and Trustees. The
decision to combine the 9:30 and 11:00 is based on low attendance and in accord with
Diocesan policy.
SUMMER DAILY MASS SCHEDULE EFFECTIVE THIS WEEK: For the summer months, from Monday,
June 30th through Friday, August 29th, the daily morning mass will be at 8:00 a.m.
AREA EARLY MORNING MASSES: St. Benedict's: 7:00 a.m. Monday-Friday; Infant of Prague:
7:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.
OUR BLESSED MOTHER OF VICTORY MISSION
The Second Collection today is for the annual Mission Appeal, conducted under the
direction of the Diocesan Office of the Propagation of the Faith. Father Arthur Winikoff
will be asking for donations for the Mission of Our Blessed Mother of Victory, which
serves street urchins, orphans and abandoned children of the Philippine Islands. Please be
generous to this urgent appeal for the mission to those "little ones" of God
most in need.
FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK IS THE FIRST FRIDAY for the month of July. Mass will be at 8:00
a.m. After mass the Rosary & Altar Society will recite the Rosary. There is no
breakfast planned after mass.
THE NEXT PRE-BAPTISMAL CLASS will be held on Tuesday, July 15th, at 7:00 p.m. in the
Msgr. McMahon Church Library. If you are planning to attend, please call the Rectory at

MAY APPEAL 2008
Last week, we sent reminders out to families who have not yet donated to the annual May
Appeal. As you know, the May Appeal is the only major capital improvement appeal and
without your support, it will be impossible to maintain our beautiful buildings and
grounds. Our need is great this year, as we have some major unexpected maintenance
projects that need to be taken care of. As of Tuesday, June 17th, our May Appeal pledges
equal $75,704 from 654 of our 2200 families.
This year we have some major necessary projects to complete (listed below), which total
$149,603.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!!! This summer the Social Justice Ministry will be asking our parish
to help a family of 7 from Burma to settle into a new apartment here in Buffalo. We will
be working with Catholic Charities Refugee Center during this process. Please take an
ornament off the Christmas tree, which will be set up in the Church vestibule. The
collection will be taken on the weekend of July 19th and 20th. Let us thank God, for all
we have!
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - Each Tuesday this summer a group of
parishioners will help renovate a Habitat for Humanity home. Many are fulfilling their
Outreach commitment for school or for Confirmation. Volunteers must be at least 16 years

CHECK OUT THE GARDENS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Tour a variety of gardens in the Snyder and
Cleve Hill areas on Sunday, July 20th, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, on the

FAMILY DAY AT DUNN TIRE PARK - The Holy Name Society is sponsoring Family Day at Dunn
Tire Park on Sunday, August 3rd, at 1:05 pm, for the baseball game between the Buffalo
Bisons and the Syracuse Chiefs (the farm team of the Toronto Blue Jays). Tickets are $6

Face-painting, prizes, chances for a color TV and running of the bases following the game.

Ü CTK Youth Council is looking for interested teens in grades 9-12 as of September to
serve on the 2008-2009 Youth Council. This is the teen leadership board for our parish
teen community. Members meet monthly to plan and implement events and activities aimed at
providing opportunities to grow in the Catholic Faith, serve those in need, and to come
together socially, strengthening old friendships and making new ones. If interested call

Ü Tuesday, July 15th - Annual Teen Picnic - ALL high school teens of our parish are
invited to attend. Time: 7:00 p.m., Place: 33 Snyderwoods Ct.. A special invite goes out
to all new teen parishioners and upcoming freshman. This is a great event to meet members
of the CTK Youth Council. Join us for good food, swimming, games, and to learn about our

Ü Sat., July 19th - World Youth Day Faith Fest at CTK Seminary, East Aurora from
4:00-9:00 p.m. Cost is $10. All high school students are invited for a day that includes
music, youth witnesses, cookout, and a Mass, which is scheduled for 7:30 pm (the same time
as our Holy Father's closing mass at World Youth Day, 2008 in Sydney Australia) We will be
arranging car-pools, call by July 15th, if you are planning on attending.
