Liturgical

Altar Beautification

This committee is responsible for the altar decorations during Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas.

Volunteers usually spend only about two hours each season to complete the preparations. Please contact Eileen Summers at 839–0916.

Adult and Young Adult Altar Servers

Adults: Adults are needed as servers to assist the priest for funerals. Training is provided. Please contact Mike Summers at 839–0196.

Young Adults: Boys and girls in grades five through high school assist the priest at Mass and other liturgical services. Altar servers are able to sign up for a Mass that fits their schedules. Usually they will serve at one Mass every month. Training is provided.  Please contact Renée Villa at the rectory: 839–1430.

Children’s Liturgy

From September through June, children are dismissed at the beginning of the 10 a.m. Mass and brought to the Upper Church where Scriptures are read and discussed at a level that is appropriate for them. The children return downstairs after the homily to rejoin their parents.

Children of all ages are encouraged to attend, and adults (high school age and older) are welcome to volunteer to assist.  Please contact Debbi Testa at 839–3586.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Ministers assist with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist at Mass. Some ministers also distribute the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. Confirmed parishioners who would like to accept this ministry are encouraged to attend two training sessions. Ministers usually serve once every five weeks at the Mass of their choice. Please contact Renée Villa at the rectory, 839–1430.

Lectors

The Liturgy of the Word reveals Christ’s presence in the Sacred Scriptures.  A lector proclaims the Word nurturing the Church’s prayer. Generally, lectors serve once every month at the Mass of their choice. Please contact Renée Villa at the rectory, 839–1430.

Ushers

Ushers assist in welcoming and seating parishioners and visitors at Mass. They attend to any special needs during the liturgy, and assist the Eucharistic Minister in locating worshippers who are not able to walk up the aisle to receive Communion. Ushers also take up the collection and present it to the priest on behalf of the congregation. They also open and close windows and at the conclusion of Mass, they stand near the exits and distribute the weekly bulletin. Ushers usually serve once every month at the Mass of their choice.  Please contact Renée Villa at the rectory, 839–1430.
