Prayer Shawl Ministry

Every Wednesday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., a group of dedicated people meet in the Church Library to knit Prayer Shawls. The completed shawls are then blessed and given to those who are facing an illness, crisis, or are in need of God’s comforting and healing presence. New knitters and donations of three skeins of the same color of yarn are always welcome. If you know of someone who is going through a difficult time and would like to receive a Prayer Shawl, please call the Rectory. There is no fee. Please contact Linda Maslona at 839–2368.

Respect Life Ministry

This ministry acts as an educational resource for parishioners on all life issues, and joins with other groups in the greater Western New York community to bring a message of hope and assistance to women in crisis. Members work to show the inherent value and dignity of life from conception to natural death. Activities include efforts to change laws and public policies, to relieve economic burdens and to provide relief to those in need. The ministry sponsors an annual baby shower, and encourages parishioners to actively work to have their Catholic voices heard in the halls of government. St. Vincent de Paul Society

This parish group serves the material and spiritual needs of the poor in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul. They respond to parishioners and others who are less fortunate by organizing food distribution, helping with the summer camp at Angola, and organizing clothing drives. A yearly toy drive is overseen to provide Christmas gifts for children in Buffalo parishes. The Society works with people locally who may be experiencing difficulty due to illness or loss of employment. Parishioners’ donations to the food basket support the SVDP dining room at 1298 Main Street. Contributions made through the Poor Boxes support the work of the Christ the King SVDP Conference. The Society meets September through June on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7:00 p.m. and once in July and August. You can participate in this ministry by adding to the:

Clothing-only collection bin in the school parking lot, the non-perishable food collection basket in Upper Church vestibule and the St. Vincent de Paul boxes for monetary donations located at church entrances.  Please contact Tom Wiktorski 833-8035.

Please donate eyeglasses, hearing aides, cell phones and inject cartridges in the Lion’s Club collection box, located in the back of the Upper Church.
